How to maintain the battery of diesel generator set?

If the battery of the diesel generator set has not been used for a long time, it is necessary to properly charge the battery of the generator set before use to ensure the normal use capacity of the battery.

The technician will make some water in the battery evaporate during normal operation and charging; Therefore, it is necessary to refill the generator set battery frequently. The first step before refilling is to clean the dirt around the filler to prevent the dirt from falling into the battery cell. Then open the filler and add an appropriate amount of distilled water or purified water. Do not overfill it. Otherwise, when the battery is discharged/charged, the electrolyte inside the diesel engine will gush out from the overflow hole of the filler, causing corrosion damage to the surrounding objects and environment.

The diesel generator set is a kind of power equipment that takes the diesel engine as the prime mover and drives the synchronous generator to generate electricity. This is a power generation device with fast starting, convenient operation and maintenance, low investment and strong adaptability to the environment.  

Avoid starting the unit at low temperature. The capacity of the battery will not be able to output normally at low temperature, and long-term discharge may cause battery failure. The battery of standby generator set shall be regularly maintained and charged, and can be equipped with floating charger.  

Tips for battery maintenance of diesel generator:

First, check whether the battery is properly charged. If you have a three-way meter, measure the voltage at the two poles of the battery after starting the engine. It must be more than 13V before it is normal. If you find that the charging voltage is too low, you need to ask professional personnel to repair the charging system. If there is no three-way electricity meter, visual inspection can be used: after the engine starts, open the water cap of the battery to see if there are bubbles in each cell. The normal situation is that there are bubbles constantly emerging from the water, and the more you refuel, the more they will emerge; If you find no bubbles, it is likely that there is something wrong with the charging system. Special attention should be paid to the hydrogen generation during the test, so it is not allowed to smoke during the test to avoid the risk of explosion and fire.

Second, open the water cap of the battery to see if the water level is at the normal position. Generally, there will be upper and lower limit markings on the side of the battery for your reference. If the water level is found to be lower than the lower mark, distilled water must be added. If distilled water is not available, filtered tap water can be used for emergency. Do not add too much water. The standard is to add it to the middle of the upper and lower markings.

Third, scrub the outside of the battery with a wet cloth to clean the dust, oil and white powder on the panel and pile head that are easy to cause leakage. In this way, if the battery is often scrubbed, the pile head of the battery will not accumulate white acid corrosion powder, and its service life will be longer.
